law new

A law new is legislation that has been proposed, debated and passed by Congress or another legislative body. Legislation is an official rule that governs behavior within a society or country. It can include laws, regulations, statutes, ordinances and executive orders. The term law may also refer to the Constitution, which establishes the fundamental principles of a nation.

A federal law new, also known as a federal statute, is a written rule or regulation created and enacted by the United States government, either at the federal level or by an individual state. A federal law new can change the way the government conducts business, sets policy, or defines rights and obligations. Federal laws are created by Congress or by the President, through an executive order.

State laws are enacted by the legislature of a state, and include both constitutional provisions and statutes. A law new can be created by a legislator, who presents it to the legislative body for consideration, or by a group or organization that requests a change in a current law. The person who introduces a bill is called the sponsor. A sponsor may be joined by other legislators who support the bill, who are called cosponsors. A law new that is approved by the legislative body and signed by the governor becomes a state statute. The governor has 10 days to sign or veto a bill. Signed bills become law; vetoed bills die. A law new can be overturned by two-thirds of the members of both houses of the legislature voting to do so.
