What is a Daily News?

A daily news is a newspaper that prints stories about current events. These stories can be about anything from local politics to international issues. Some of these papers also print opinion columns written by writers who are not employed by the paper. Some of these newspapers are free and others are subscription based. Some of these publications are a part of larger media companies. The term daily news may also refer to a television show or other broadcast program that is updated regularly.

The Daily News is a daily American tabloid that was founded in 1919 in New York City by Joseph Medill Patterson. It was the first tabloid to be printed in the United States and continues to be one of the country’s most popular newspapers. The News is known for its sensational headlines and its focus on New York City. In the past, the newspaper was able to generate public interest with a single headline such as its 1975 front page story about the murder of teenager Cynthia Cooper that read “Ford to City: Drop Dead.”

Today, the newspaper is owned by Mortimer Zuckerman and published in New York City, but it has a strong nationwide following. Its online edition and mobile app are extremely popular. In addition, the News has a large circulation of paid subscribers for its print version.

In addition to the main news section, the newspaper includes a variety of other sections such as celebrity gossip, classified ads and comics. It also has intense city news coverage and a sports section. The newspaper’s website features a wide range of online content including video and interactive maps.

Each news article is fully sourced and fact checked by our editors. Whenever possible, we provide links to additional resources for further reading and context. This allows readers to make informed decisions about the stories they are interested in. Additionally, every Daily News article contains comprehension and critical thinking questions that are designed to help students develop a deeper understanding of the news.

In 2021, an anonymous Yale alumnus made a substantial gift to support the continued operation and expansion of the Yale Daily News Historical Archive.
